UB Virginia Academics

In the UB Virginia program, students attend Piedmont Virginia Community College for either one or two years before attending a U.S. university.

After attending PVCC for one year, students may complete a competitive transfer to any U.S. university

After attending PVCC for two years, students are guaranteed a transfer to several top U.S. universities, as outlined below with an associated GPA requirement from PVCC


  • University of Virginia with 3.4 GPA
  • William & Mary with 3.6 GPA
  • Virginia Tech with 3.4 GPA
  • Mary Washington with 3.25 GPA
  • James Madison with 3.0 GPA
  • George Mason with 3.0 GPA

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a two-year college founded in 1969. PVCC is committed to providing access to a college education for all who can benefit, an opportunity for each student to reach his or her potential and excellence in our programs and services. Piedmont Virginia Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees.

PVCC has a less than 1% international student population and an average class size of 20 students.  There are over 40 student activity clubs. 

Through the UB Virginia program, over 80% of students transfer into their top college choice.
